Notes from the May - June 2009
Tour of Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and England

London, England - June 24
On the way to Kew Gardens, we walked to the Pimlico tube station, went down lots of
stairs and boarded the next train heading north. Our intention was to test the route to Heathrow,
to see if the Underground (tube) was a viable way to get to the airport on our way home.
With the number of stairs and stairways at Pimlico, it was clear that this transportation mode
was not viable with suitcases. We ended up making two changes, Green Park and South Kensington,
to end up on the District Line to Kew. Kenith found the whole experience to be most disagreeable.
Too many people and too many stairs. This picture shows one of the transfer points.

Outside the Kew Gardens tube station is the town of Kew

A major conservation and research center, Kew Gardens is a multifaceted attraction on 326 acres.

We started our tour in the Palm House.

Inside were plant species from all over the world.

Information was available on many familiar foodstuffs and the plants that produced them.
