Kinsale - May 21 The fort was constructed by thr British in the late 1600s to protect Kinsale harbor. |
The star shape and significant battlements proved a very effective defense against invaders. |
The guns were never fired against an enemy. |
Hugh canon were mounted on swivels here. |
Charles Fort was matched by James Fort on the other side of the channel. |
Walking back to Kinsale, we saw some beautiful views. |
We followed the up and down hilly road, and then on to Scilly Walk. |
