Notes from the May - June 2009
Tour of Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and England

A trip to Cobh (pronounced 'Cove')- May 22

The Queenstown Experience - Documenting the role Cobh played in the 1840s - 1890s
as a port for Irish emigrants leaving their homeland.

The early ships were hellholes - here a baby has died.

Some old ships (hulks) were used as prisons for criminals and political prisoners.

Jammed packed, disease and death.

Another part of Cobh's history surrounded the U-boat sinking ot the Lusitania in 1915.
