Notes from the May - June 2009
Tour of Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and England

The Lake District - Barrow in Furness, England - May 26
Along the road, beyond Coniston Water, is Tarn Hows, a beautiful mountain area.

Tarn is a word from ancient nordic invaders that means tear drop.

What a beautiful day we had - cool and clear

Miles and miles of rock walls of intricate design.

Continuing on, past Beatrix Potter land, we came to Windermere and its famous lake,
the largest in England. This goose greeted tourists for handouts.

The lakeside town is called Bowness.

Peter bought our group ticket for the lake cruise and went on to meet us down south at Lakeside.

This commercial, scheduled boat goes up and down 11.5 mile long Lake Windermere.
