Notes from the May - June 2009
Tour of Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and England

Blenheim Palace, England - June 16
Down A44 from Chipping Campden to Woodstock we find the entrance gate at Blenheim Palace

Got all that ?

Eleven Dukes of Marlborough have lived here,
the ancestral home of the Churchill family (and some Spencers too)

Built beginning in the early 1700s, Blenheim Palace is the birthplace of Winston Churchill

The primary courtyard and main entry

The Churchill Exhibition and the State Rooms were exceptional. The 45 minute tour was well done
and we saw exquisite rooms, decorations and paintings. No interior photographs were allowed.

The grounds are extensive and beautifully landscaped.
