Theme 1. Access to Opportunities
 What do you like the most about our community/region?
  Access to arts / theater / music
  Access to the University
  Access to major markets (Mexico, Phoenix – if you want to go)

 What do you most want to change or improve about our community/region?
  Business environment (too focused on government sector)
  More businesses
  Commerce
 
Theme 3. Community – Small Town Feel
 What do you like the most about our community/region?
  Rural / community environment
  Small town environment and good schools
  Close community w/open space
  Close community / small town feel
 
Theme 4. Infrastructure – Services
 What do you most want to change or improve about our community/region?
  Relatively easy access & nearby
  More public transportation – buses, light rail
  Community center, pool, library
 Why is this important? How does this affect you?
  More activities for kids would deter vandalism
  Too long from one side of Tucson to another
  Community more accessible
  Need a belt / loop freeway to improve area
  Improve quality of life (time saving)
  Improve environment with shorter driving
  Entertainment & jobs
  Lack of public transportation – no way to get into town (teens)
  Increase connectivity and think more regionally

  Better regional roads leading to a grocery store in downtown Vail

  Growing lack of “ownership” that seems to come with population growth

  No bars on windows
  Strong sense of community
  Lack of community compared to the past

  Bringing all territory & people into governance

  Lack of leadership regionally
  Overall lack of involvement in education
  Engage the University to create a common future
  Involvement of University as planning resource
  Not afraid to think out of the box
  Tucson as built by developers is aging – need new stronger leadership
  Good infrastructure like Portland and mountain views
  Well managed – good services
  Decide what we want
  Need of infrastructure not to pressure natural environment
  Plan for land use and growth
  Vacationers love it !!
  Nobody wants to own Tucson
  Total lack of leadership from Tucson affects all

  Tax property at sales – need to educate citizens
  Change is slow – no tax mentality
  No longer just a retirement community
  Long term success of region tied to education
  Vail – best of the worst – education is failing
  AZ - 2nd lowest education level in country
  Need involvement for quality schools
  Lots of parent involvement
  Community must be built on solid education foundation
  Schools at center of community is no longer valued – need to reverse it
