![]() Bodmin, England - June 20 After returning from Padstow, we visited Lanhydrock, a magnificent late Victorian country house with extensive servants' quarters, gardens and 450 acres of wooded estate. |

![]() No pictures were allowed inside. The main house was the ultimate 19th-century `Upstairs/Downstairs` experience. Upstairs had beautifully decorated rooms with many artifacts from the Robartes` lives, while Downstairs had servants` quarters, an enormous kitchen with an `. . . elaborate arrangment of roasting-spits .. operated by a large fan fitted in the flue above the fire` and multiple larders for dry goods, milk/cheese, vegetables, fish and meat. Very interesting to imagine what life was like. |
