Notes from the May - June 2009
Tour of Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and England

Barrow in Furness, England - May 26
First port of call
A brass band and friendly people came to welcome us to their land.

The town crier read out a welcoming proclamation.

Our tour of the Lake Distict was handled by Mountain Goat, Ltd. in this vehicle

Peter Fox was our driver and guide.

After a short stop in Barrow for the cash machine, our first destination was at the pier on Coniston Water.

This glacier-formed lake of six miles in length was the site of boat speed record attempts,
including a fateful run in 1967 of Donald Campbell's Bluebird boat that broke up at 320 mph killing him.

My eyes are closed - I must be dreaming
